Senja

A free tool as the top of the funnel.

Collect, manage and share testimonials. Built lean by a two-person team.

Content

Senja is a testimonial platform — collect video and text testimonials, organize them, and embed them anywhere as "walls of love" and widgets. Built by a lean two-person team, it grew by giving away genuinely useful free tools and converting the traffic into paid accounts.

The model

A freemium subscription: a generous free tier gets the product embedded on customers' sites, and paid plans unlock more collection forms, integrations, branding removal, and advanced widgets. Because every embedded widget carries a subtle Senja link, the free tier is also the marketing budget.

What's working

  • Free tools as top-of-funnel. Standalone utilities (testimonial forms, walls of love) rank in search and get shared, pulling in exactly the audience that needs the paid product.
  • Distribution baked into the product. Every embed on a customer's site is simultaneously a backlink and an ad seen by their visitors.
  • Speed and personality. Fast shipping and personable founder-led support give indie makers something to talk about.
  • Low-friction value. Social proof has obvious, immediate ROI, so the jump from free to paid is an easy sell.

The risk

Testimonial collection is a crowded space with low switching costs, so the edge is execution speed and staying the friendliest, most-embedded option.

Steal this: build a free tool that leaves your logo on your customers' sites — let their traffic become yours.
