Social proof as a product
Testimonials used to live in a Google Doc. A handful of tools turned collecting and showing them into a subscription.
Every business knows testimonials sell, and almost none of them have a system for collecting them. That's the opening these tools took: make it trivially easy to ask, collect and display.
Why it works
- Each customer markets the product. Every widget on a customer's site is a small ad, often with a "powered by" link.
- Free plans are cheap to serve. Text and a few videos cost little, so generous free tiers drive adoption.
- Clear upgrade moments. More videos, custom branding and integrations are natural reasons to pay.
