One-page site builder run profitably by a single founder for years.
Content
Carrd is a builder for simple, responsive, single-page sites — landing pages, link-in-bio pages, personal profiles. It has been run profitably for the better part of a decade by a single founder (AJ), and is the textbook case that a focused, solo SaaS can quietly out-earn far larger teams.
The model
Freemium with almost comically low pricing: a free tier for basic public sites, and Pro plans around $9–$49 per year (not per month) that unlock custom domains, forms, and more sites. The bet is volume — a tiny annual price removes every reason to hesitate, and huge signup numbers make up for the low per-user revenue.
What's working
- Dead-simple scope. One-page sites and nothing more, which keeps the product easy to use and cheap for one person to maintain.
- Price as a growth lever. At ~$19/year, the purchase decision is trivial, driving enormous top-of-funnel volume.
- Low churn by design. The product just works and costs almost nothing, so there's little reason to cancel.
- Solo-founder margins. No team, minimal infrastructure, and a focused surface area mean most revenue is profit.
The risk
Low ARPU means growth depends on constant volume, and one-page builders face pressure from free link-in-bio tools and website platforms bundling similar features.
Steal this: a tiny price on a genuinely focused tool can beat a bloated one — volume wins when the product runs itself.
